About the book
ፍቅር እስከ መቃብር is widely regarded as the greatest novel in the Amharic literary tradition. Written by Haddis Alemayehu (ሃዲስ አለማየሁ) and first published in 1968, it tells the sweeping love story of Bezabeh and Seble against the backdrop of Ethiopian society in the early twentieth century. It won the Haile Selassie I Prize for Amharic Literature in 1969 and gained further popularity when narrated on Ethiopian radio during the Derg era. (Wikipedia)
